Ridge Cap Re-bedding and Re-pointing
Pointing the ridge caps on a tiled roof is the process of adding a layer of coloured cement or flexible sealant around the sides and collars of existing ridge caps.
On older tiled roofs, the existing pointing cement cracks due to roof movement, wind and the general expansion and contraction of your roof in different temperature conditions. Another common cause of pointing cracking and becoming loose is via other trades crossing your roof and walking too close to the ridge-capping.
As a house owner, you would be well advised to request any tradesman working on your roof, to take care as they cross your roof.
